Admission Process

Most full-time students complete the program in two years. You can get started by submitting your application for enrollment to the Dutchess Community College flight school. You can contact the Aviation Science Program Chair for the current negotiated fee for flight training and for course/program information. Courses must be selected in consultation with the Program Coordinator and you must successfully complete an FAA physical in order to enroll for the Dutchess Community College aviation program.

Aviation Courses and Certificates Offered

The Dutchess Community College aviation program is designed primarily for students who plan on transferring to a four-year institution to pursue a baccalaureate degree. The program consists of aviation courses that include liberal arts and science courses, technical courses, and flight labs. The Associate in Science (A.S.) degree is awarded upon completion of the requirements for the Dutchess Community college aviation program. Students who successfully complete the Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Aviation Science: Pilot (AVI) will be able to obtain an FAA certificate appropriate to the level of pilot proficiency.
